With all the talks about how quitting smoking can improve your personal, physical health, it is also good to look at how quitting smoking can improve your social life, which is funny because most people might say that they started smoking to improve their social life. Twenty years ago, that was probably the case, and even though most people who are at an age where they should definitely consider healthy lifestyle choices might make the same argument, there is more scientific information available to support quitting smoking.
Let’s be honest though, quitting smoking could not only improve your social life, but probably your sex life too! Regardless of whether or not you are looking for someone who is smoke free, when you go out to clubs, parties, or other social events the mysterious sensuality that smoking used to symbolize is no longer relevant. Here are 5 reasons smoking can improve your social (sex) life:
1) YOUR SCENT: Much scientific research has gone into the understanding of pheromones. These are the natural chemicals in the body that, seemingly magically, attract mates to you. When you smoke, though, you carry that aroma in your hair, clothes, mouth, and fingers. This disguises your natural scent (not to mention that as time passes, the waning smell of cigarette smoke is often worse than the fresh smell). The worst thing is that as a smoker, your own sense of taste and smell have been weakened and so you might not even notice it!
2) YOUR SENSES: Obviously, then when you quit smoking your senses are restored. When you are on a date—whether casual, business, or relational—being able to taste your food and drink is important. When it comes to sex, ALL senses are heightened and so being able to taste and smell can be crucial before, during, and after coitus.
3) YOUR APPEARANCE: Not only does cigarette smoke smell bad, but it can cause yellowing of the teeth and fingernails. It can even make your skin jaundiced and give you bloodshot eyes. Quit smoking. Look better. Easy.
4) YOUR HEALTH: Cigarette smoking causes respiratory issues. It’s tough to impress a date when you are hacking up a lung. Also, stamina helps in the bedroom. I’m just saying…
5) YOUR WELL-BEING: With proper blood flow, your cells receive more oxygen as well as more nutrients. This gives you more energy, makes you more alert and attentive, and helps you think clearly. That gives you more patience and makes you easier to talk to. Sometimes that is all that is required in a pleasant evening.
